The Partnership: We are partnered with Fundacion Suenos and the community of El Sunza, El Salvador. Fundacion Suenos has been working in El Sunza since 2000 and their aim is to improve the lives of villagers there through nutritional/medical, educational/vocational, and spiritual intitiatives.

The work so far: Patrick and Tim traveled to El Sunza in December and made the contacts that have made this partnership possible. Since then, we've helped Fundacion Suenos improve their computer workshop by furnishing 3 laptops, and also sent $1000 for the purchase of sewing machines that are used to train girls in the village. On July 12, 11 of us from the People Not Profit/Mosaic community left for 2 weeks in El Salvador, with 9 days spent in the village of El Sunza. We helped construct a home, facilitated a number of youth activities each day, including lots of futbol, and used photography and art to teach village youth to find and extract beauty from their surroundings. More than anything, we just enjoyed being a part of the life of El Sunza and all the learning that came with it.

FotoVoz: Our friends at Progress Coffee funded FotoVoz (photo voice), a project that put cameras in the hands of village youth and provided them a means of expressing themselves through photography. Fotos were displayed in a gallery at Progress throughout October and are now available for sale online. View FotoVoz gallery. If you are interested in a particular print, go here.
