short  story  collection

Meredith Imken is a close friend who has been living and teaching in Tanzania for the past three months. She often blesses us with her poetic words and stories from across the ocean. The following poetry was written by some of the young students in her english class on the topic of home.
My House is Small

It's only enough for me.
It has a grass roof.
I'm the only one who likes it.
It has a window for only insects to pass.
I always sleep on mats.
But I enjoy this house
because it's mine.

My Grandmother's Hut

It's always very hot,
No, cold, over there.
None liked it.
Everyone joked about it.
Everyone laughed at it.

None liked it
But only me
And my granny,
The very beautiful one,
Always clean,
And always smelling good.

I love it very much.
None can compare.
