The story behind the shirt: right after the fighting broke out between Israel and Lebanon in the summer of 2006, I happened to be watching a news report showing graphic footage of the misery inflicted on innocent civilians in Beirut. In a split second (no commercial break), the anchor said, "Now let's look at the cost of this war to the American consumer..." at which point, several business analysts predicted various inconveniences Americans might experience at the gas pump or in their stock portfolios. There is a blindness to other human beings that results when we focus on ourselves, our bank accounts, our comfort. That is what this shirt is about. 100% Organic cotton, produced at Nueva Vida Women's Coop in Nicaragua.
